[ARTICLE] What does B2ST’s Dongwoon and BTOB’s SungJae had in common before?

Similarities? They’re both Maknae ^^ but its not it.

At B2ST’s program “B2ST Idol Maid” Maknae Dongwoon confessed that he studied in the Philippines to learn English. Dongwoon studied at Sta. Rosa Laguna, Philippines. While BTOB’s maknae SungJae studied at Cebu, Philippines. According to them they liked their stay in the Philippines.

Remember the Korean Actress “Lee Da Hae” on a tv show where she insulted Filipino’s English Accent? She was hated by a lot of people after that. Later on, Lee Da Hae confessed that she learned to speak in English because of her “Filipino” Teacher.

I wouldn’t bother to wonder, the Philippines is one of the most great English Speakers and Pronouncers in the World so they really had a great taste. More idols had their Philippine touch, 2NE1’s Sandara Park, MBLAQ’s Thunder and many more.

  1. Erm, not trying to sound rude but philippines isnt one of e greatest English speakers. Their accent is really thick, which makes it hard for others to understand their English. In South East Asia, Singapore is the best place to pick up English since English is the first language for Singaporeans.

Having said that though, I dont think its right for people to poke fun at Filipino’s accent tho.

    • er not trying to be rude but. sometimes i dnt understand the english of singaporeans. tbh i understand the english of filipino’s more. well that’s my opinion though

      • me too.. i can hardly understand english accent of singaporeans.. but i can easily understand Filipinos speak english.. just an opinion :))) that’s why more foreigners go to Philippines to study english.. THAT’S THE CUE!!! :))))

      • I too believe that filipino’s are more sufficient in english. When foreigners said that they have thick accent usually some of them arent educated or have native languages, philippines is an archipelago so their are many different languages . Even a filipino who lives in other places, or is new to that language is having a hard time understanding . Also philippines’ poverty is no joke thats why many people switch places to work. We dont know if the foreigners asked a filipino who lives in mindanao? I can say that filipino’s have better accent because i am a korean who learns english in philippines (not to be rude above)

    • not all Filipinos have a heavy accent when speaking English. some may intentionally use the “stereotypical” Filipino accent (especially like what some Filipinos do in youtube) as a way to make people laugh. and that goes for other languages too. i know quite a lot of Filipinos who can speak English or Japanese or Korean without an accent.

  2. Actually, a lot of Filipinos are pretty good when it comes to communicating in english. It’s just that most foreigners encounter some that never really managed to get rid of their native accents (visayan, etc).
